ACTING ON YOUR PRAYERS

When Elijah was praying for the 3½ year drought to end, he went to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed down to the ground with his face between his knees. He prayed for rain, then sent his servant to go look toward the sea for any sign of rain. The servant returned and said, “There’s nothing.” Elijah kept praying and sent the servant back again, and he returned with the same news. They repeated this errand seven times. Then on the seventh time, the servant returned and said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” The sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy downpour.

To be proactive means taking initiative or acting in anticipation.

Elijah proactively prayed when he acted in faith and anticipation, by having his servant continue to look for signs of rain. He prayed with persistence until his servant saw a small cloud rising up into the sky. He then acted on that knowledge notifying King Ahab that the drought had ended.

To God be the glory.
